U8: Chess Profi victorious

A young team from St. Petersburg, Russia, formed under the name of Chess_Profi, is the winner of the Worldwide U8 Center A competition that was held on December 23, 2020. Very successful Russian team is always very competitive and brings many players, today came with 18 youngsters born in 2012 or younger. And the rest of the podium comes from Russia: Derzhava Chess Club (Tambov) on second and Botvinnik Youth League (Moscow) in third place.

  • Team leaders: Papayan Oleg and Chernyuk Mikhail. Rachikhin Roman recently became the Champion of the city of St. Petersburg in blitz among children born in 2011 and younger.

Great tournament is Center B: Five teams placed within 6 points difference, competing for promotion until the very end. Latvia Junior Chess managed to score a win. Second place for Düsseldorfer Schachverein 1854. Third place went to Veli Vrh, a hybrid chess club that guests players from different parts of the world, and which is one of the founders of Worldwide Junior Chess organization. And it was nice to see a young girls team from Stuttgart to win in Center C. This week, Worldwide U8 saw a total of 360 players.


Over hundred players in Division East: Eminent Chess Academy (New Delhi, India) managed to score their first win, with Федерация Шахмат Республики Башкортостан (Russia) coming second and SHARP KIDS Under 8 (Philippines) third.


Division West: another win for Veracruz Mexico team, with Arriba PERÚ coming second and ANBA COCHABAMBA (Bolivia) third.


Next U8 event will be held on January 20, 2021. With new year coming, age limit for U8 is moved to children born in 2013 and younger.
