U8: wins for Etud, Kstovo and Fox Valley

Incredible finish in Division East: Этюд (Etud, Ekaterinburg, Russia) and SHARP KIDS Under 8 (Philippines) ended up tied for the first place!! Only three points behind them were players of Eminent Chess Academy (New Delhi, India).

In Division Center A, a very convincing win for СШ 2 Кстово (Sport School №2 Kstovo, Nizhny Novgorod), strong team from Russia, with multiple wins in U8 and U12 categories. Podium finish for Botvinnik Youth League (Moscow, Russia) and Sakarya Analiz Satranç Kulubü (Turkey).

Division West: First win for Fox Valley Chess Club (USA). Arriba PERÚ came second and ANBA COCHABAMBA (Bolivia) third.

The first U8 competition in the New Year saw a revised age limit. U8 players born in 2013 and younger are allowed, meaning a lot of teams had to revise their members and transfer some of the players to the older category. This produced interesting results, and allowed for some new teams to take the upper hand in the competition. Nevertheless, yesterday we had 290 U8 players, and it would be hard to find another event that brings so many young players together, week after week. No doubt there will soon be numerous young players coming over, with Worldwide interest in online chess growing faster than ever.
