Worldwide League: September 2021

From September on, teams can compete in U8, U10, U12, U14w, and U16 categories and are encouraged to participate in as many categories as they wish. Tournaments are played on Wednesdays and Saturdays enabling children to participate in more age categories and in the timing that is most appropriate for them.

A novelty for Center Divison teams: During Autumn League, from September through December, the competition will have 8 rounds in each age category, with a scoring system that will see the first fifteen teams in each round receiving points for the final standings (20-18-16-14-12-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1) and compete for the overall win in the Worldwide Autumn League. If the tournament has more groups, the first 10 places are taken from A group, and the rest from the B group, until fifteen teams get points.

The eight-round scoring system will be applied to Center Division only, in U8, U10, and U12 categories, while East and West Divisions will continue to have regular tournaments like before, without counting team points. U14w and U16 categories continue to play on Saturdays as stand-alone events.

U12 players – children born in 2009 and later. Time control is 10+2. Tournament duration is 90 minutes. East, Center and West Divisions. Note to all players without team: you can join in Worldwide U12 Selection and Worldwide U8 Selection and play in Worldwide League.

Tournaments are played on Wednesdays at 11:00 UTC, 16:00 UTC and 22:00 UTC. Time control is 10+2. Tournament duration is 90 minutes. Team battles are played every two weeks. Note to all players without team: you can join in Worldwide U10 Selection and play in Worldwide League.

Junior U16 League – Saturday, September 18, 2021

Worldwide U16 is a Team Battle tournament for children, born in 2005 and younger.
Tournaments are played on Saturdays at 15:00 UTC. Time control is 10+2. Tournament duration is 120 minutes. Team battles are played every two weeks.

Worldwide Junior Chess League is an online chess competition for children. Started as a collaboration of several chess enthusiasts, the tournament became very popular, with more than 2000 children participating, coming from more than 70 countries. From the beginning, we tried to keep it free for all children, but the amount of work to keep the League going has risen greatly. With your help, we can continue to run this tournament free for all kids.

The League duration is four months, during which there are numerous tasks to organize: setting up the tournaments, monitoring, announcements, correspondence, website maintenance, writing articles, making diplomas for our young champions.
