Worldwide Junior Chess Festival

Delighted to announce the first-ever Worldwide Junior Chess Festival to be played on February 27, 2021. Following the success of the Worldwide League, with over 2.000 regular participants, this Festival will be a great opportunity for young players to play in Worldwide Swiss tournaments.

UPDATE: the Festival will be held on Lichess platform. Children will be playing on the platform where they compete in Worldwide League and are familiar with.

In tradition with the Worldwide Junior League, several tournaments will be played in different timings, to better accommodate many time zones.


Festival is open to all U12 players (children born in the year 2009 and later). Players can join in one or more tournaments, with respect to their time zone. All times are given as UTC+00:00 (GMT) London time. Please check the Schedule and time converter for tournament beginnings.

Every player will receive a digital Certificate of Participation.

The top ten players in each tournament overall will receive a special Award Certificate.

Category Certificates for the three best players in each of the age categories: U7, U8, U9, U10, U11, and U12.

Female Category Certificates for the three best girls in the same categories.

Tournament winners and best placed players in each category will get featured on the Festival Gallery, waiting to be filled with young stars!


Registration will take place here

Registration phase begins on February 5, and closes on February 25, 2021. Registration fee is €7 EUR, valid until February 25 registration deadline.

The Registration fee is valid for all tournaments during the Festival. Kids can play in one or more tournaments, whatever is best for them, in regards to the time difference, and can enjoy chess all day.

All players should abide by the rules governing fair play.

Every participant has to declare himself as an honest player.

The use of unfair assistance is strictly forbidden. All players are expected to make their own moves throughout the game, without any help from other people or any kind of software.

Worldwide Junior Chess Festival is an Online chess competition event (Annex 6.4 Fide Online Chess Regulations, 6.1.1.).

Warm-up events will take place on Friday, February 26, in form of short, three-round 7+2 Swiss tournaments.
